Roadmap

What’s next for the year ahead.

ThawUI is the set of controls, colours, type and motion that Thaw and Floe are built from. Its code is moving to its own repository from Thaw’s, and Floe keeps a copy of it for now. This is the plan as it stands, not a promise.

What is being built, for the next releases of Thaw and Floe.

Thaw

  • A new design. Settings is being made more like macOS’s own apps. The sidebar puts the everyday pages first, and long pages show one tab at a time.
  • Fewer switches. Every setting is being gone through: some become default behaviour and some go away, and panes are merged. Experiments either graduate or get removed. It began in 3.0.0-alpha.4, which removed the Advanced pane. 3.0.0-beta.3 removed Thaw Bar Only and two Troubleshooting buttons, 3.0.0-alpha.11 turned two switches into one Hidden items picker, and 2.2.0-beta.1 merged several in Thaw 2.

Thaw and Floe

  • One look across both apps. Their interfaces are being brought together on the same shared components, so a control looks and works the same in each.
