# Thaw > Thaw is a free, open source menu bar manager for macOS. It hides and shows menu bar items, and finds them by search or a hotkey. Floe, from the same people, is an open source launcher for macOS that runs Raycast extensions unmodified. It is a separate app and still early. Thaw 3, in beta, runs on macOS 27, Thaw 2 on macOS 26, and Thaw 1 on macOS 14 and 15. Thaw is under GPL-3.0 and Floe under AGPL-3.0. Thaw has no account, no analytics and no tracking. Every docs page below can also be read as Markdown: add `.md` to its address. ## Thaw - [Thaw](https://www.getthaw.app/): What Thaw does, how to install it, and a demo you can try in the browser. - [Frequently asked questions](https://www.getthaw.app/faq): Whether Thaw is free, which macOS it needs, what its permissions are for, and how to remove it. - [Roadmap](https://www.getthaw.app/roadmap): What the Thaw team is working on now, what comes next, what macOS is holding back, and what has shipped. - [Changelog](https://www.getthaw.app/changelog): Every Thaw release and what it changed. - [Release feed](https://www.getthaw.app/feed/thaw.xml): Thaw’s releases as an Atom feed. - [Thaw documentation](https://www.getthaw.app/docs/thaw): How Thaw works, how to script it, and how its releases are built and verified. ## Using Thaw - [Getting started](https://www.getthaw.app/docs/thaw/getting-started): Install Thaw, give it the permissions it asks for, and hide your first menu bar item. - [Versions and update channels](https://www.getthaw.app/docs/thaw/versions): Which Thaw runs on which macOS, how to install it, and which updates each channel sends you. - [Permissions](https://www.getthaw.app/docs/thaw/permissions): What each permission Thaw asks for is used for, which ones you can refuse, and how to grant one again. - [What Thaw sends over the network](https://www.getthaw.app/docs/thaw/network): Every network call Thaw makes, what each is for, and how to switch it off. - [Shortcuts and automation](https://www.getthaw.app/docs/thaw/shortcuts): Keyboard shortcuts, Shortcuts, Spotlight and Siri actions, Control Center controls, and more thaw:// links. - [Reset or uninstall](https://www.getthaw.app/docs/thaw/reset-and-uninstall): Put Thaw’s layout or settings back to how they started, or remove Thaw and what it leaves behind. - [Frequent issues](https://www.getthaw.app/docs/thaw/frequent-issues): Known problems and their workarounds, for Thaw 3 on macOS 27 and Thaw 2 on macOS 26.
